Postdoctoral Scientist, University of Leeds

Job Description:
Leeds is one of Britain’s largest and most popular universities with more than thirty-three thousand students and just under 7,500 staff, including four thousand academic and academic-related staff.

The University has departments in all major disciplines and more than fifty interdisciplinary centres. Trinity and All Saints College and the College of Ripon and York are affiliated to the University. The University is also associated with Leeds General Infirmary and St James’s University Hospital, which together make up the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Yorkshire Cancer Research are funding a five year programme to support research to improve the outcome in bowel cancer. Overseeing theme 3 (identification of early molecular lesions and their role in pre-cancer).

For a fixed term of one year, the post holder will undertake high resolution parallel sequencing karyotyping and a CGH to identify important regions of deletion/amplification in early colorectal lesions.

In addition normal bowel mucosa will be screened by ultra deep sequencing for the presence of mutations prior to the development of macroscopic lesions.

Salary: £29,853 – £35,646
